Circulation

  • Your Blair ID serves as your library card.
  • The checkout period is three weeks for most books.
  • Reference books marked Overnight on the back as well as books that have been designated overnight by a teacher (these are usually books that are being used for a class) must be returned before 7:25 a.m. the next day.
  • There are no fines on regular circulation, but you will be charged $.50 per day for overdue overnight items, beginning with the day the book was due, if it is returned later than 7:25 a.m. that morning.
  • Any books that are charged out on your card are your responsibility, even if you checked them out for a friend. If your friend does not return them, you have to pay for them.
  • You will receive a notices of overdue materials both electronically through your BEN account, and slips from your first period teacher.

Conduct

  • Your ID must be visible at all times.
  • The media center must be used as it is intended: for research, homework, reading, or other school related activities.
  • Computers are to be used for schoolwork only. This rule applies all day, including before school, after school and during lunch. If you are using the computer for anything other than schoolwork, you will be asked to give up your computer. The only exception is that email is allowed after school.
  • If you use any books that you do not intend to check out, put them on the Return Books cart when you are finished.
  • Please return any encyclopedias to the shelf where you found them.
  • There is no eating or drinking allowed in the media center. Water is allowed.
  • All other applicable school rules will be in effect in the media center.

Passes

  • The library is open to anyone before school, from 6:45 to 7:25, and after school from 2:10 to 3:30.
  • Passes are not required during 5A and 5B lunch. The media center staff reserves the right to close the media center if there are classes in session, or if the library has reached a reasonable capacity.
  • During all class periods (1,2,3,4,6,7), you must have a pass, written in your plan book, from your teacher. When you come in, present your pass at the circulation desk and sign in.

If you have any questions about the policies and procedures, or if you just need some help in the library, any member of the media center staff will be happy to help you.
